EMBARKATION DAY

REMINDER:  CLICKING ON THE PHOTOS WILL ENLARGE THEM.

We all had a great night's sleep.  I mentioned in yesterday's post that Marge Goddard was also staying at the Hilton so I invited her to our suite for pizza.  We had a great time catching up with her activities.  Marge is also on our cruise.
OOPS!  We will be getting wet this morning during boarding.  This radar photo taken at 8am showing thunderstorms heading our way.  Enjoyed Starbucks coffees and muffins for our breakfast.

We left the Hilton just before 11am.  There was a huge van waiting as we walked out and only charged us $10 per person to take us to the port.  It was raining lightly but they let us out right by the door.  There was no line at security where our bags were x-rayed again.  There was also no line to get checked in and get our keys.  Boarding had not started yet.  But when we turned around after getting checked in there was Carlos, the Executive Concierge, who lead us right onboard.  Then when we walked on the ship there was Nicki, the General Manager, who greeted us and welcomed us onboard.  Believe me no one else received this special boarding today.
As normal, glasses of champagne greeted all passengers when they walked on.  Also, everyone was directed to the emergency meeting location and names checked off.  Safety on board Regent ships is taken very seriously.
This is the General Manager, Nicki, whom we've know for years.
The General Manager is responsible for everything and all the crewmembers except for the bridge officers and engineering officers.
Rebecca hit the library and picked up a couple books before we headed to our suite.  As Diamond members our suite is to be ready when we board but others had to wait until 1:45 before their suites had been cleaned and available.  The house cleaning supervisor was just finishing making sure all was perfect.
As Diamonds (again over 1000 nights on Regent) this was on our little table:  Veuve Clicquot champagne, a flower bouquet, and a box of Leonidas candy.
We also discovered these special French toiletries in our bathroom.  This is something new.
Next I went down to the internet manager and had him get me all signed up for the internet.  Basic internet is free but I signed Rebecca up for "streaming" so she can watch her soaps on Paramount Plus.  This costs $15 per day.
From there we headed up to La Veranda for the lunch buffet.  It was packed but we ran into Vlada, the manager of all the dining venues on board.  He was restaurant manager also on our 2023 world cruise.  The place was full and I did not see any open tables but he got us one right away.  Yes, everyone spoils us!!!!  Rebecca had her usual Atkins Bar for lunch.  I did not eat much because we are dining in Prime 7 at 7pm this evening.  Prime 7 is the steakhouse.  Our Canadian friend, Marcia Rector, is also joining the three of us.

The two pieces of luggage we shipped ahead via Luggage Forward arrived at 1pm which is earlier than ever before on other cruises.  Luggage usually arrives much later but think it was early because the Navigator holds about 500 passengers so the longshore men have fewer bags to load.  We set about unloading our 3 big bags and 2 carry-ons.  Everything fit in the closet and drawers but we had to have our suite steward bring us more hangers.

Below are some photos of our suite.

                                                                       Our balcony

We have both a shower (small) and tub.
The walls are metal and have a thin covering so I use magnets to put stuff on the walls.  I find this very handy.  Few passengers have figured this out.
The door is also metal (covered).  I put our world cruise and grand cruise magnetic plaques on the door.

I can now stop worrying as WE and all our bags made it on board.  We are meeting Marcia in Stars Lounge at 6:00 for cocktails before dinner in Prime 7.  My back is killing me this evening due to all the bag handling so I had to take a extra strength Tylenol.  Hope it improves in coming days.  I did bring some stronger pain meds.
We are sailing at 5pm and will be at sea the next couple of days prior to arriving at St Barts on Thursday.  Stay tuned!!
