DAY 14---MANAUS (DAY 2)

Better weather here this morning but still overcast.  At least no rain so far.  75 degrees at 8am.

LAST EVENING

This local group was amazing.  Theater was packed for their show at 5:30.  Songs and sounds of the rainforest.

Arjay leads us to our table every evening that we dine in Compass Ross.  She seats us at the same table with Made (short a) as our waiter.
We dined with Jane and Marge Goddard.  We have known and cruised with Marge for a long time.
These are the black mussels that I described in yesterday's post.  I had a very large order of them as you can see.
Marge ordered this Dover sole.  I initially ordered scallops but did not like that dish so sent it back and asked for the Dover sole.
Here the head waiter, Reynaldo, is de-boning it.
No show as 200 passengers left the ship at 8:00pm on a night time "Caiman Spotting" tour.  Caiman are small alligator like animals that are lie on the shallow tributary river banks.  The boat guides shine a flashlight in their eyes.  The eyes glow.  We did not do this tour.
I left the table before dessert and hit the hay.  I was asleep when Rebecca came to the suite after staying at the table longer.

TODAY

Rebecca had room service at 8am.  Cereal today.  Today is Sunday.  Every Sunday on Regent's ships they have a "Champagne & Caviar Breakfast" in both Compass Rose and La Veranda.  I forgot about it last Sunday but not today.
                                                                   Big order of caviar.
                                                                       Eggs Benedict
People walk through the first boat to board the outer one.

We both did 2 miles on the treadmill this morning.  Probably my last time on treadmill as it's just to hard on my back.  I have more than normal pain afterwards when showering and dressing.  Getting to the point where I have trouble dressing myself especially bending over to do socks and tie shoes.  Rebecca sometimes has to help me.

I decided not to go ashore again today even though the weather was much better.  Too much of a hassle as you tender to port, then ride bus from port to cruise terminal.  We had a nice lunch up in La Veranda.  As I have not put many photos here in Manaus on this blog, I am putting a link to some photos I took in 2016.  We did a very interesting tour then so I think you will enjoy the photos.  No description however.  The photos (over 100) are of an Indian community and rubber museum.

You will have to "cut and paste" the above link to your browser.  After you hit "enter" the photos will come up.  For better viewing you can click on the first photo to enlarge then arrow (on right side) through the rest.  The Indian community (VERY interesting photos) will be first followed by the rubber museum visit.
I guess Ray went ashore today as there is no interdenominational church service today.  There is a catholic mass however at 2pm by a local priest.
We will have our regular evening "communion" in Stars Lounge at 6pm.  Dinner in Compass Rose even though we are not enthused about the menu.
At 9:30 in the theater the ship's production cast will be doing "The Great American Song Factory" show.  It will be featuring songs from the 1950's and 1960's.  We will be attending it.

We will be sailing again at 4pm.  Temperature this afternoon is 82 and still no rain today.  From Manaus back to Miami we will have to sail 2455 miles.  Next port is Parintins and will anchor there tomorrow at 11am.
