DAY 18---AT SEA

At noon we were 36 mile off the coast of French Guiana and abeam Devil's Island where the film "Papillon" with Steve McQueen was filmed.  It is 82 degrees with occasional rain showers passing.  Getting a much better ride then when going to southbound.
This shows where we are off the French Guiana coast and heading for Barbados at top of photo.

LAST EVENING

Pippa and Ray greeting the Seven Seas Society top tier guests to a special cooking demonstration.

Executive chef Jaroslaw and the pastry chef.
Made (short a) is our waiter every evening.
                                                                      Shrimp cocktail
                                                                       Seafood soup
                                                                   Miso glazed sea bass
This is the dessert that the pastry chef made during the cooking demonstration.  Not sure what it is called.
"Broadway in Concert" with the production cast singers.  We did not care for the songs that sang as did not recognize even one.

TODAY

Up at 7:30.  Clocks moved back an hour last night so we got an extra hour of sleep.  Room service showed up at 8:00 with Rebecca's scrambled eggs and my cereal.  There was enough eggs for both of us.
Now that we are back in the ocean and away from Brazil Rebecca thought she could again get Paramount Plus streamed.  For some reason her phone was not logged into the ship's internet so I took it to Luke, internet mgr.  He got her signed in again but still no Paramount Plus.  Finally at 11:00 it came up.  So this afternoon she will be catching up on the 7 episodes of "Bold & Beautiful" and "Young & Restless" that she hasn't been able to watch while in Brazil.  Not sure why that was.
At 10am on the pool deck was the "Country Fair" which is also something only on all Regent ships.
As you can see many guests are participating in the games.
King Neptune presiding over the Country Fair.
Each department on the ship, ie, deck/bar/housekeeping/admin/restaurant and more, has a game for guests to play.  If you win you get a ticket to put in for a drawing at the end of the 40 minutes of games.

I'm certain the crew enjoy this more than us.  They are having so much fun also.
At 11:00 I went to the theater for Brian's lecture on the Atlantic Ocean and the Bermuda Triangle.  We will be going along the southern edge of the Bermuda Triangle from San Juan back to Miami.
Brian's talks draw a big crowd.
After lunch in La Veranda I filled out our disembarkation form indicating what time we need to be off the ship, how many pieces of luggage will be left outside our door the night before, and what mode of transportation we will be using.  I answered:   1)  off the ship at 8:30, 2) 3 bags, and 3)  Blacklane limo.
It's a rainy afternoon.  Good thing the Country Fair was this morning when the sun was shining.  Rebecca is watching Bold & Beautiful episodes while I work on this blog post.  There are two other lecturers speaking this afternoon and many other activities.  I sent some laundry out last night and they just brought it back at 2pm.  Great service.
I got an email from a pre-admission testing coordinator asking me to call him.  So I did this afternoon.  I set up a 2pm appointment for Monday, March 24th, to get blood work, EKG, and chest x-ray done.  All this for my back surgery on the 28th.

As usual at 6pm we will enjoy some cocktails and canopes at Stars Lounge.  Captain Loris has invited Marcia, Rebecca, and I to join him for dinner in Compass Rose at 7:00  Captain Loris joined Oceania Cruises in 2016 after years as a merchant ship captain.  He transferred to Regent earlier this year.  He is Italian.
At 9:30 in the theater is "Variety Showtime" featuring Ray Solaire (CD), Craig Diamond (magician), and Jeri Sager (singer).
Tomorrow is another sea day before arriving in Barbados on Saturday.
